Background Screening

Background Checks

Safe-T-Works offers custom background screening services in compliance with state, national, and international laws. We help small to large companies make sound employment decisions by providing a detailed history of an applicant's past criminal history, credit history, driving record, and education before making critical hiring decisions. We have all the tools you need to make informed decisions, maintain a safe and drug-free workplace, and find the right person for any position in your organization.

Here are the top three reasons why you should run background checks on new hires:

  1. Verify Credentials

If someone misrepresents their experience, they are unlikely to meet your expectations and as a result you could end up wasting precious time and resources training someone isn't the right fit.
  2. Promote Safety

A troubled past may show a pattern of behavior that you don't want to bring to your place of work. While you can ask if they have ever been convicted of a felony, nothing stops them from lying. For this reason, a background check can keep your staff safe by confirming if someone is telling the truth or if there is something concerning on their record.
  3. Protect Your Business

Not having a background check system in place could up open your business to fines and legal ramifications. For example, if you hire someone previously convicted of identity theft and they steal a coworker's wallet, the victimized coworker could use your negligence as ammunition for a lawsuit against your company.

Our background screening services can include any of the following searches:

Criminal

National Criminal Record

This report compiles results including Criminal records, Social Security Verification, National Sex Offender Registry Search Results, and 100s of additional search sources.

Statewide Criminal Record Search

Statewide criminal records are in real-time and obtained from the state administrators of the courts where available. In states that don't allow public access of state records, we recommend using the county search to get a more specific county by county breakdown.

County Criminal Record Search

County records are searched in real time and are obtained from the local county courthouses.

Federal District Court Search

Federal records are hand-searched from the US District courts for convictions from charges brought by the US Government.

National Sex Offender Registry Search

This service screens records of offenders who, in most cases, have been convicted of sexually violent offenses against adults and children and certain sexual contact and other crimes against victims who are minors. This is a search of all 50 states, The District of Columbia and Native American Territories.

International Criminal Searches

Safe-T-Works offers comprehensive background history checks and criminal record searches from around the world including but not limited to Asia, Africa, Europe, Oceania, South America and North America.

I-9 Verification or Everify

Our I-9 team compares information from your new employee's Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Social Security Administration (SSA) records to verify that your new employee is authorized to work in the United States.

Education

Education Verification

The salaries you pay are tied to specific levels of education and expertise. Unfortunately, many applicants claim degrees and licenses which were never earned or otherwise falsify their education. This check verifies the supplied information.

MVR/Driver's License

Motor Vehicle Report

Driving records can show arrests and convictions for driving while intoxicated, a history of reckless behavior, and whether the license is, in fact, valid. This check, by state, may uncover applicants with substance abuse and other behavioral problems.
